Pergolas, fire pits and outdoor living
The slab is where the yard starts, not where it ends. We build the shade and the fire feature with the same crew that pours the concrete — so posts land where they should and everything lines up.
Why homeowners pick Keen for this
Designed with the slab
Post footings get set while we are forming the patio. Bolting a pergola onto finished concrete later is always the second-best answer.
Built for coastal weather
Hardware, footings and spans sized for Gulf wind and humidity, not for a catalog photo.
Fire pits in matching concrete
Stamped and stained to match your patio, with seat walls where the space allows.
What we build
Every one of these was poured, framed and finished by the same crew.

Attached pergolas
Ledger-mounted to the house for shade right off the back door, with the patio poured to suit.

Freestanding pergolas
Out in the yard or over the pool deck, with footings set during the pour.

Fire pits with seat walls
A curved bench and a fire feature turn a patio into somewhere people actually sit at night.

Stone-look fire pits
Hand-carved and colored concrete that reads as stacked stone, poured into the patio.
How it goes
01
Plan the whole space
Shade direction, prevailing wind, where the smoke goes, where the chairs sit. We work it out on site with you.
02
Footings with the pour
Post footings and any fire pit base go in while the patio is being formed.
03
Pour the patio
Concrete goes down and gets its finish — stamped, stained or broomed to your choice.
04
Frame and finish
Pergola framed, hardware set, fire pit built and detailed to match the slab.
05
Seal and hand over
Everything sealed together so the colors settle as one space.
What you pay, and when
One honest, fixed price, itemized in writing before we start. Half at signing and half at completion — no progress-payment ladder, no change-order surprises unless you ask us to change something. Keen work carries a one-year workmanship warranty; cracking, color variation and efflorescence are inherent to concrete and are excluded, and we say that up front rather than in the fine print.

Pergolas & Fire Pits care sheet
One page on how to look after it, what will damage it, when to re-seal, and which bits of concrete behaviour are normal rather than a defect. We hand you this on the day; it is here so you can find it again in three years.
Questions
Straight answers, before you call.
Do you build the pergola and the patio together?
That is the way we prefer to do it, and it costs less than doing them a year apart. Footings go in with the pour, so nothing has to be cored or bolted onto finished concrete later.
What wood do you use?
Cedar is the usual choice here for how it handles our humidity and how it takes a finish. We will talk through the options and what each one costs to keep up.
Can a fire pit sit on a stamped patio?
Yes — we build the base into the slab and detail the pit so the colors match. Gas or wood, depending on what you want and what your setback allows.
